Following the defeat to New York Red Bulls, Jose Mourinho confirmed that his side haven’t made a second bid for young Everton defender John Stones, adding that he has full trust in his current crop of players that much that he might not even need to sign the young English defender.
By saying the above, Mourinho was denying claims made by the media in the United Kingdom that the Blues are in desperate need of Stones, and doesn’t need anyone else. Speaking to the media last night, Mourinho said,
You are speaking with the manager of the best team in England. We are a top team, we have top players. We don’t need other players, we trust these players.
Both the Daily Mail and the Mirror had previously reported that Stones would be heading to Chelsea. Mourinho has since ruled the move out, but Chelsea fans have been in this type of situation before with both players arriving and departing. This has the potentaial to become a saga, but at the same time, could end very quickly.
