Jose talks about the new Stamford Bridge

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes the decision to increase the size of Stamford Bridge is the right decision, despite the Blues having to play elsewhere whilst the work is carried out.

Plans to build a new Stamford Bridge were unveiled to fans and local residents three weeks ago, and were greeted with great excitement.

And Mourinho understands the need for the club to expand as he hopes to build his own plans at Chelsea for the foreseeable future.

I’ve taken charge of 98 matches on my bench in Stamford Bridge and hope to have more. I know the club needs to make the next step and that is a new Stamford Bridge, more seats. At a certain point of our lives as a club, we will have to leave which is a bad thing but if we need to play at another stadium we will try to make it our new home while we wait.

The build is scheduled to take three seasons, with the Blues seeking a temporary home in the meantime.

Twickenham and Wembley have already been singled out as potential venues, though no agreements have been made yet.
