McEachran: I needed a fresh start

Josh McEachran signed a four year contract with Brentford earlier this week, ending 15 years of association with Chelsea.

The 22 year old admitted it was the right time to seek a new adventure after being loaned 5 times to five different clubs during his spell with the Blues.

Having, spent the last year in Holland with Vitesse Arnhem means he will be reunited with Brentford manager Marinus Dijkhuizen, who is Dutch.

McEachran is relishing the prospect of playing in a new club. He told the Brentford official website this,

I have been at Chelsea for 15 years now so I felt it was time for a fresh start.

“I want to get settled and start playing week in week out. As a young player all you want to do is to play week in week out. I was playing consistently after the winter break and that is what I needed.”

McEachran has always been regarded as a very talented player for most Chelsea fans, but the midfielder admitted he needed to make the right decision to revive his career. Having spent the last season in Holland, he believes the Dutch football style really suits him and is looking forward to catch up with the Dutch manager, he added:

“It was a good experience in Holland. It suited the way that I wanted to play perfectly. It was a lot more technical and tactical and I am looking forward to working with a Dutch manager here. I have been hearing a lot of positive stuff about Brentford. I met the manager and I watched Brentford a lot last season and I think the style of play will suit me perfectly.”
