Mourinho frustrated at lack of new signings

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is frustrated at Chelsea’s lack of transfer activity so far this summer, according to The Sun.

Whilst the source may not be the most reliable news source in the world, The Telegraph have also briefly reported on it, suggesting Mourinho could be unhappy.

The Portuguese boss is reportedly seeking more big-name signings this summer and has requested that the board back him with additional funds to strengthen his squad.

Though the Blues have all but signed of young Brazilian stars Kenedy and Nathan, and Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic; the youngsters are not deemed ready for the first team and will almost certainly be loaned out next season, while Begovic is a replacement for Petr Cech.

And despite the signing of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan, Chelsea’s first team squad is currently looking slightly thin, giving Mourinho good reason to be slightly worried.

Marko Van Ginkel, Izzy Brown, Lewis Baker and Andreas Christensen have all gone out on loan next season, Josh McEachran has joined Brentford on a four year deal, Didier Drogba has left the club, whilst John Obi Mikel and Loic Remy have also been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Mourinho is reportedly seeking another striker, midfielder and defender as he seeks to strengthen his title-winning squad from last season.

The Blues have had a move for Real Madrid midfielder Isco rejected, and have been linked with Chile star Charles Arangiuz, unsettled Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze, Roma defender Adbul Baba Rahman and Stuttgart centre-half Antonio Rudiger.

However Chelsea face stiff competition should they pursue the signature of Rudiger as Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in the defender after losing Toby Alderweireld to Tottenham.
