Mourinho: We made a bid, the bid is there

In an interview with Sky Sports tonight, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Chelsea have made an offer to Everton for John Stones. He also didn’t say whether Chelsea will improve on the initial £20 million bid or not.

However Sky sources understand Chelsea are likely to make an increase their offer.

Mourinho spoke to Sky Sports from Montreal; where Chelsea are currently training for the season ahead.

We made a bid, the bid is there and Everton have the power to accept it or refuse it.

Martinez today criticised Chelsea in his press conference in Singapore, where they have played two friendlies in the Barclays Asia Trophy. He wasn’t happy at Chelsea for making their bid for John Stones public therefore Mourinho didn’t want to speak about the young England international too much.

Mourinho, “This is between John Stones and Everton and I don’t speak about him because he is an Everton player.

“If we made a bid it is because we like the player, we don’t make bids for players we don’t like, but we respect Everton and respect every club that has a player and it is up to them – everything is in their hands.”

However he also had a little dig at Martinez and stuck up for his club.

“The transfer window is open, when it is open every club and every player is open to bids. Bids come for our players, we make bids for other players and the process can be so simple, so I would advise Roberto to do the same thing as I do.”

“If I get an offer for one of my players and I don’t want to accept any offer I say I don’t accept any offer, so you can make it very, very easy.”

He finally used Fabregas as example and assured Chelsea fans after his fantastic first season at the club that he will not be sold no matter what. He said he’s a type of player where the bid will be rejected instantly as he’s an important player in our team.

If today I receive a bid for (Cesc) Fabregas in two minutes I will say I don’t accept any bid, game over, that’s it.
