Piazon rubbishes ESPN Brazil reports

Chelsea midfielder Lucas Piazon has spoken out about his future at the club after Gustavo Faldon and Tiago Leme of ESPN Brazil revealed yesterday that the young Brazilian had reportedly said, “it will be a waste of time to stay” at Chelsea.

The 20-year-old released a statement early this morning rubbishing the reports from ESPN Brazil on his Facebook page.

Contrary to what was published today in ESPN, Terra & Lance!, Lucas Piazon never said he has no interest in playing for Chelsea,” the statement revealed.

“The project of career as defined by CFC, in total agreement with the athlete, is for Piazon to acquire more experience before joining in final phase with CFC.”

“This is part of the strategy at CFC and happens with other young Brazilians and also athletes of other nationalities.”

“There is the possibility of a new loan for the next season, as part of the final stage in the preparation of Lucas Piazon.”

“It is clear and logical that I wanted to be in London, playing for Chelsea. But I see this [loan] as a natural process.”

“All my friends are going through the same thing. I understand and I try to learn from each loan as much as possible.”

I have played in 3 different leagues, I try to learn from each and evolve in the future, to be part of Chelsea’s team.

The statement then reveals how a number of Premier League clubs have enquired about Piazon’s availability in the past two years, however Chelsea have refused to sell the midfielder, who was widely regarded as one of Brazil’s brightest talents as a youngster.

Piazon moved to Stamford Bridge in January 2011 and has since had a succession of loan spells since his debut in Chelsea’s 8-0 romp over Aston Villa. Spells at Malaga, Vitesse Arnhem and Eintracht Frankfurt have seen the 20-year-old fall slightly off the radar at Stamford Bridge.

The statement suggests that he could be set to join the Blues’ first team for the 2016/17 season, after “the final stage” of his preparation is complete on loan this season.
