Chelsea are keen on signing Atletico Madrid winger Antoine Greizmann, despite his new contract and his massive release clause. According to the Telegraph, Roman Abramovich is the man behind this deal as he is getting frustrated with the Champions’ start of this new season.
Throughout the summer, the Blues have been linked with a move for the French international, but the release clause which is currently £56.8m did put the west London club off.
But now that Chelsea have reignited their interest in the former Real Sociedad attacker, the release clause is now a target. Mourinho’s side will probably offer a little less first, and if that gets rejected, they’ll offer the full amount. On that note, the two clubs may be able to agree a deal between now and the end of the month.
It was only last summer when Griezmann signed from Sociedad to fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid and enjoyed a very impressive and successful first season at the Calderon, bagging himself 25 goals mainly playing in the striker role, or just behind.
