Chelsea have been drawn against Walsall in the Capital One Cup 3rd round. The tie will be played on the week commencing 21st September. The exact date of the fixture will be confirmed soon.
The last time Chelsea played Walsall was in the Capital One Cup in 1992. It was in the 2nd round and Chelsea won the tie 4-0 on aggregate.
It is certainly a nice tie for Chelsea and it is likely Mourinho will play a reserve side including youth players.
The Blues were the winners of the 2014/15 season after beating Tottenham 1-0 in the final at Wembley.
The trophy was Jose Mourinho’s 21st trophy of his career as Chelsea overcame Tottenham with a clinical 2-0 victory in the Capital One Cup final.
John Terry’s deflected close-range effort beat Hugo Lloris to put Chelsea ahead at the end of the first half and Kyle Walker turned Diego Costa’s low drive into his own net after the break to give Mourinho victory in the pouring rain.
