Chelsea ready to make £30m+ bid for Stones

This is one story that would not die down until the transfer window closes or a transfer takes place. The young England defender from Everton John Stones keeps getting linked with Chelsea.

Latest reports put that the Goodison Park club are braced for a third bid for the defender from Jose Mourinho. The Champions have already seen a couple of bids knocked back. But, the interest has never died down.

Roberto Martinez has clearly been frustrated with the initial two bids – £20 million and £26 million. He feels that Stones is worth more than £30 million but his displeasure is more directed at the aggressive public courting from the Stamford Bridge.

Amidst all the drama, the youngster showed enough resolve and steel to start for the Toffees in the weekend against Watford. Although he was caught out for the second Watford goal, Stones was one of the standout players for Martinez.

The Everton manager keeps pointing out that Stones will not be sold for any amount.

He loves Everton, he loves the club and the team and he is an incredible professional, so no I don’t think you would ever expect him to sulk – he will always react professionally

Mourinho already expressed his confidence in the current squad and said that he is done with transfer business. That, of course, is no cue that about Stones’ bid.

There is a strong belief at Stamford Bridge that Stones is the sort of player that can replace Terry in the long run.

There is no short of interest in the defender and Chelsea know that they would have to tie the deal up quickly else run the risk of losing a prized asset.
