Jose: Man City should have had two men sent off

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that Manchester City should have been reduced to nine men. The Blues manager was speaking after overseeing his side comprehensively beaten at the Etihad.

A first-half goal from Sergio Aguero followed by late strikes from Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho completed the rout for City. But, Mourinho believes that the hosts had a let off in the first half. He thinks that Fernandinho should have been shown a straight red for an elbow on his striker Diego Costa.

Mourinho also believes that the City midfielder Yaya Toure should have been sent off for the hosts. Toure made a second bookable offence when he fouled Juan Cuadrado in the closing stages.

“Probably they should have finished the game with nine men because in my opinion Fernandinho should be a red card,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

And in minutes 80-something, again out of the context of the game, but Yaya Toure makes a clear second foul. So, a second yellow card

Mourinho wasn’t trying to shield away from the defence frailties of his side. The Blues came out more determined in the second half as they looked for an equalizer.

The second and third goals came as the final nails for the loss and Mourinho is furious with the mistakes that led to those goals.

But their second and third goal I can also say that it is my players’ mistake and if you are punished by your players’ mistakes you deserve to be punished.

Mourinho may have been happy with the showing in the second half but he can’t run away from the fact that this Chelsea side came second best for most part of the game. The score may have been flattering for the home side but the result wasn’t in any doubt.
