Roma to offer huge Zouma bid

According to The Mirror, Italian side AS Roma are interested in submitting a £25m bid for Chelsea’s young French defender Kurt Zouma, but knowing it’ll probably get rejected, they’ll settle for a loan deal if it’s possible.

The 20-year-old is Chelsea’s 3rd choice when it comes to selecting defenders. However, with the Premier League champions showing obvious interest in Everton’s John Stones, a successful deal there could put Zouma further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Roma’s coach, Frenchman Rudi Garcia has placed the ex-Ligue 1 defender on the top of his shopping list for the remainder of the summer transfer window, wishing to replace the departed Alessio Romagnoli who has joined AC Milan in a deal worth £22m.

If a permanent deal for Zouma cannot be agreed between the two clubs, Roma will offer a lucrative loan deal for the defender, in what could potentially be an offer that the Blues wouldn’t turn down.

Last season, Zouma featured 26 times for Jose Mourinho, netting twice including in his home debut against Bolton in the Capital One Cup.
