John Terry believes that new signing Radamel Falcao is all set to be a hit at Stamford Bridge. The Blues captain has all the confidence that the loan signing from Monaco will prove to be ‘unbelievable’ with Chelsea.
The once-feared Colombian striker spent last season on loan at Manchester United. The time at Old Trafford was nothing short of disaster for Falcao who ended up only frustrating the Red Devils.
There were concerns on where he will end up this season with Monaco looking for a suitor who can match his wages. With United pulling out of the race, Jose Mourinho stepped in and brought Falcao on loan – although at substantial cut on his weekly wages.
Terry revealed that Falcao gave him a tough time when the both came face-to-face in April. Add that to what he saw in the pre-season and Terry believes that Falcao is ready to step up in the new season.
His movement is unbelievable and literally two minutes into the game we played against Manchester United last season I turned to Gaz (Cahill) and said ‘we need to on it today’
Strangely, Falcao struggled against Terry and Cahill in that match and was left frustrated through the match. Even in the Community Shield against Arsenal, Falcao played the second half and was nowhere near making any impact.
It would be a huge surprise if Falcao goes above Diego Costa and Loic Remy in the pecking order; at least on current form. But with Costa struggling with his fitness and Remy equally good at fluffing the chances, Falcao may get a life line.
More than anyone else, Falcao knows that nothing short of goals will help him win the trust at Stamford Bridge. His captain Terry has full faith on the intensity that Falcao brings to the team.
He wants us to win things and if we are to win things he is going to have to score a lot of goals. We are hoping that it is a great combination and he does really well for us.
Terry may believe that Falcao’s work-rate will be valued at the club and the Blues would be better with him in the squad. The jury is out till Falcao finds his scoring boots; the sooner the better!
