Markus Weinzierl, FC Augsburg coach, wants the future of Baba Rahman to be sorted as soon as possible, with Chelsea leading the race to sign the young left-back.
The 21-year-old didn’t feature in the Bundesliga side’s 5-0 victory in their friendly vs Toulouse on Saturday, with the club saying he was ruled out with “muscular problems”.
“It’s clear that I and all of us here want the facts soon,” Weinzierl added in kicker.
ESPN FC sources told them at the weekend that the Blues are confident in landing Rahman, who only joined Augsburg last year from Greuther Furth in a deal worth €2.5 million.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he is seeking defensive options after allowing Brazilian Filipe Luis to return to his old side Atletico Madrid.
We cannot go to the Premier League with five defenders, That’s our weakness. The quality is good, but the numbers are not enough.
German media outlet Kicker have reported that Chelsea are yet to agree personal terms with Rahman, but the two clubs have reached an agreement regarding the transfer.
Augsburg will then have to pay Rahman’s old side, Greuther Furth, 15% of the fee that Chelsea pay.
