Baba Rahman hoping to nail down starting role

It took Baba Rahman almost a month to make his Chelsea FC debut since his £21 million move from Augsburg and Ghanaian wants to secure a regular place in the Chelsea first team.

The 21-year-old full-back helped the English champions keep a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in their Champions league opener on Wednesday, and he hopes to get more opportunities.

I’m hoping to play very, very often – my main aim is to play as many games as I can here.

Michael Essien was arguably Chelsea’s best player in his position, and Rahman revealed his former international team mate who played at Stamford Bridge for eight years,  encouraged him to make an impact at the club. Christian Atsu did too.

They gave me some top lines of advice and told me that I if push hard I can make it through. I’m really working hard to keep the momentum going.

Rahman call on Ghanaians to support to make the country proud.

If the people in Ghana keep supporting me I can make them proud.

Having won a place in the team and helped Chelsea return to winning ways, Rahman is now looking ahead to winning silverware with his new club.

Last year we won the Premier League and Carling Cup and this year we want to win them again, we want to win them again and the Champions League. We want to win as many cups as we can.
