Chelsea to hijack another Tottenham deal

Jose Mourinho is ready to make a £20m bid for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama when the January transfer window opens, reports The Daily Star. Interest from Tottenham is high for the Kenyan and over the summer they reportedly had a bid rejected from Southampton. Pochettino is keen to re-manage his former player.

Wanyama has 2 years remaining on his current contract and towards the end of the summer transfer window he made his intentions clear that he wanted to leave Southampton.

Mourinho is keen to improve his midfield after failing to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus.

A big plus for Chelsea is that if they were to sign the Kenyan he wouldn’t be cup tied for European competitions as Southampton were knocked out of the Europa League at the qualifying rounds.

Koeman and his board face the difficult decision of keeping him or not in January with interest from opposing clubs appearing to be high. His value will only decrease with the player not wanting to sign a new contract.

Wanyama arrived at Southampton from Celtic in 2013 for £12.5m and has gone on to be a key part of Southampton’s midfield up and till now.
