Fabregas: Costa’s mentality is good for us

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes team mate Diego Costa’s hunger for success is great for the team despite his competitive nature making wrong headlines. The Brazil-born Spaniard tangled with Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny in a tempestuous 2-0 London derby win over Arsenal, with Gabriel being sent off after a coming together with Costa.

His actions has been condemned many and others has lauded his passion for victory,  whilst the FA has charged for allege violent conduct. But Fabregas believes his passion and zeal to win at all cost spurs the team on.

He’s very competitive, it’s good, he’s hungry for success and to win all the time. You can see the fans love him as well, they get behind him all the time so it’s great for us.

Fabregas has had a poor spell in his second season with the Blues, but is hopeful the victory over their London rivals is the beginning of more to follow.

I’m happy for the victory, that’s the main thing. We were on a bad run and now we are playing better, confidence is higher, we don’t want to stop here.We went into a bad run, every team has one in a season and hopefully we’ve had ours. We’ve taken off and we hope this is just the beginning of what will be a big season for us.
