Real Madrid renew interest in Chelsea star

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard is back on Real Madrid’s radar, according to The Times.

The Belgian is a long-term target of Real Madrid, currently managed by former Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez, and it seems even his poor start to the season can’t deflect the interest of the Spanish giants.

The Times reported over the weekend that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is desperate to sign the 24-year-old and would go as far as to sell one of Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale in order to free up funds to tempt Chelsea into a deal.

Ronaldo is a potential target for PSG while Manchester United are admirers of Bale, but one would assume that Real Madrid have the appropriate funds to sign Hazard already, without selling one of their so-called ‘galacticos’.

However, Hazard, who was awarded last season’s PFA Player of the Year award, would certainly command a huge transfer fee, having been Chelsea’s star man since signing in the wake of the club’s Champions League triumph in 2012.

Real Madrid’s reserve manager and club legend Zinedine Zidane is a well-known admirer of the former Lille man though, having claimed earlier this year that he preferred him to both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

A major concern among Chelsea fans will be their poor start to the season and what that means for Eden Hazard’s future, with Madrid surely being an attractive getaway for the star if the Blues continue to falter in the Premier League.

Would you sell Eden Hazard to Spain if the right offer came in? Comment and let us know.
