Costa injury scare worries Mourinho

The demoralizing loss to Stoke City on penalties in the Capital One Cup came with an anxious injury strike. Striker Diego Costa had to be taken to hospital with a rib injury suffered in the game. The Blues manager Jose Mourinho confirmed this in the post-match press conference.

Any game against Stoke is going to be physically challenging with the club infamous for its bruising style of play. Costa was sandwiched between Ryan Shawcross and Charlie Adam and had to be substituted after 32 minutes.

It is still as yet unknown if the striker will be unavailable for the weekend clash against Liverpool. The exit from the competition is a body blow but losing Costa will be way bigger than that.

Especially under current circumstances where Mourinho is under intense pressure in the midst of a wretched form. Loic Remy may have found the net late in the game to force into extra time but Remy and Falcao will struggle to replace Costa.

Crucially for Mourinho and Chelsea, November will be a busy month with crucial Champions League matches as well as important Premier League clashes including the London derby with Tottenham.

All the Blues’ supporters are waiting anxiously to discover the extent of Costa’s injury which could make or break our season.
