Diego Costa not included in the Spain squad

Diego Costa has been dropped from the Spain squad for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers vs Luxembourg and Ukraine.  However Cesar Azpilicueta, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro have all been included.

Costa would have missed the game against Luxembourg due to suspension but would have been able to play against Ukraine three days later. But instead Del Bosque has decided to include Alvaro Morata.

The Spaniard said Costa hasn’t been dropped for his performances, he also revealed he was disappointed in Diego’s actions vs Arsenal.

What he did was unedifying, and that is why he was punished. Of course, I didn’t like what he did. He can’t play the first game through suspension and we’ve decided not to bring him. He hasn’t played badly and it’s not on merit.

Spain currently sit top of their Euro 2016 qualifying group after beating Slovakia in the last international break. Del Bosque’s side will qualify for the championship in summer if they win either of their games or if Ukraine drop points.
