Are Chelsea losing a golden generation?

Last night I was reading an article on the Telegraph called “Chelsea must not waste the opportunity to promote young talents such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek”.

The thought has recently come to mind as Ruben himself has reportedly revealed that he has become increasingly frustrated with his lack of game time this season and wants a loan move out of Stamford Bridge; despite Chelsea’s poor start to the season, the talented midfielder hasn’t been able to make the starting XI even with Fabregas and Matic in poor form.

Sadly Chelsea are known for not promoting the youth with John Terry being the last graduate; he is close to the end of his career as well so we need to change our view on our academy players.

There have been reports recently that Michael Emenalo could be facing the chop due to his poor transfer dealings in recent years but could some poor transfers been going under the radar at Chelsea? This summer Chelsea sent 32 players out on loan but could some of those players been Chelsea’s saviour? Potentially.

Chelsea have some of the most talented prospects in world football with the likes of Andreas Christensen, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Dom Solanke but sadly they will always be second fiddle to players like Fabregas, Djilobodji and Falcao which is incredibly frustrating.

Jose Mourinho promised Loftus-Cheek game time which was delivered against Aston Villa but only lasted 45 minutes. Amazing talents are being destroyed by Mourinho’s desire for them to have a defensive work rate and this needs to change or we will lose a golden generation of players.
