Chelsea show interest in Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone

Diego Simeone is said to be ready to quit his job at Atletico Madrid in the summer according the Mirror.

His contract at Atletico Madrid does not run out until 2020 but is said to contain clauses on both sides of the contract if he wishes to leave.

He would be of interest to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich if Josè Mourinho is unable to change things around at Chelsea after they picked up their 7th defeat in the Premier League on Saturday in a 1-0 loss away to Stoke as Mourinho served his one-match stadium ban.

Simeone has been a huge success at Atletico Madrid winning the Europa League in 2011-2012, the Super Cup in 2012, the Copa Del Rey in 2013, the La Liga title in 2013-2014 and also came runners-up in the Champions League final in 2013-2014.

It is also said that it is possible if he does come to manage Chelsea in the summer he may not take over from Josè Mourinho as Brendan Rodgers who has managed Chelsea’s youth and reserve team in the past, in with other names such as Guus Hiddink and Roberto Di Matteo may take over on an interim basis if Mourinho is sacked by Chelsea before the summer.
