Chelsea vs Watford: Previous Encounters

Boxing Day sees Chelsea face the Hornets at Stamford Bridge, with Hiddink looking to silence an inform Watford in his first game in charge.

The Blues haven’t faced Watford in the Premier League since their last term in the division in 2006/07, with Chelsea running out comfortable 4-0 winners at Stamford Bridge (Drogba x3, Shevchenko), and 1-0 at Vicarage Road thanks to a Salomon Kalou injury time winner.

Watford have failed to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge since the formation of the Premier League, and have not scored in in an away fixture with Chelsea since an Allan Smart strike back in February 2000.

Since their first meeting in the Premier League, which Watford won 1-0, the two sides have faced each other 9 times (4 League, 5 FA Cup); the Blues have not lost since the opening fixture, winning seven and drawing one, scoring 24 goals across the fixtures.

The last time Chelsea faced Watford at Stamford Bridge was in January of this year – a 3-0 victory in the third round of the FA Cup with goals from Willian, Remy and Zouma.

The biggest win recorded in this fixture came at Stamford Bridge in 2010, a 5-0 win that included a Daniel Sturridge brace to see Chelsea through into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
