Jose’s presser: Porto (H) – Early exit? Statistics + injury news

Chelsea are set to play their most important game of the season so far as they face Porto in a winner takes all match, Chelsea need to have a better result than Dynamo Kiev who play Maccabi Tel-Aviv who are yet to get a point in the Champions league group stage.

Mourinho spoke to the press today after Chelsea’s final training session for the important match.

On a possible Champions League exit…

It is another Champions League game but one with the difference that I play against a team from my country, a team I worked with for a few years, and one with the difference that this is the group phase but because of the results so far, it is transformed to be a knockout phase. That is because normally Dynamo win their game, so from Porto and Chelsea, one team will go to the Europa League.

We want to play in the Champions League and play the best teams, and for that we need to win tomorrow.

On the way Chelsea are playing…

It is clear that we create so many chances but we don’t score goals. We are having so many situations where we just need a tap-in, just need one touch in the face of the goal and we are not having that. That is what I am trying all the time, sometimes with a collective group, sometimes with an individual with players who should be in these positions, and that is the reason why I am always optimistic because the work is really good.

I feel sometimes a contradiction between the quality of the work and what happens on the pitch but I am always an optimist, especially because I feel that the players want to do it.

On current injuries…

Falcao just had a little period training with us. He is still a couple of weeks away from being in condition to play. John Terry and Ramires look fine.
