Mourinho will struggle to build a dynasty

Chelsea suffered their eighth defeat in the Premier League against Bournemouth on Saturday and now find themselves in a real relegation battle.

Jose Mourinho’s tactics were once again questionable and time seems to be running out for him at his beloved Chelsea. A defeat in the Champions League against Porto on Wednesday night could lead to his immediate departure.

Time and time again Mourinho has said that it is his dream to build a dynasty at Chelsea, but perhaps his single greatest flaw is stopping him from doing that.

During his magnificent reign at Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson was famous for introducing youngsters to the first team on a regular basis. Those players had been at the club all their lives, knew what it meant to wear the shirt and ultimately helped their manager with leadership on the pitch.

Chelsea have those kind of players, but most of them get shipped out to foreign clubs because they won’t get a look in. Instead, Mourinho insists on playing the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Branislav Ivanovic, who constantly underperform and simply don’t look like they care at all.

It is be the ideal time to play the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Charlie Colkett, Ola Aina, Charly Musonda or Tammy Abraham. The list is ridiculously long, but these youngsters are determined to work hard for an opportunity at Chelsea and would undoubtedly make a difference.

The team lost a big part of its identity with the departure of Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. They might have not been at Chelsea all their lives, but they knew what it meant to play for this brilliant football club.

John Terry won’t be around for much longer, and when he leaves, Chelsea will struggle in terms of leadership on and off the pitch, regardless of which manager is in charge then.

Roman Abramovich has been surprisingly patient this season, but the writing may already be on the wall for Mourinho. If his reign is cut short, he has to question his own philosophy.
