Abramovich: If Remy departs, Chelsea can sign a striker

Chelsea are clearly lacking a reliable back-up for the important Diego Costa with Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy struggling with numerous injuries. The Daily Star have reported that Blues owner Roman Abramovich has told interim boss Guus Hiddink that he can only bring in a forward, should French international Remy depart.

Seeing as Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are not interested in putting an end to Falcao’s loan stint at Stamford Bridge, if any striker is going to now depart West London – it’s Remy. If the time does come that the former Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers striker has to make an exit, there’s no doubt that numerous Premier League clubs will express an interest.

If Remy is focused on keeping his spot in the national team, a move to a fellow Premier League outfit would be ideal. Even a potential return to St James’ Park could suit both parties, with Remy needing a chance and Newcastle needing goals. The Frenchman has proved time and time again that, when given the chance, he can repay you with goals.

On the other hand, if Remy does exit, Chelsea will then look to bring in a striker to provide that all important back-up to Costa. Numerous reports in the past 24 hours have stated that the Blues are close to signing former AC Milan striker, Alexandre Pato. The Brazilian has always said he’d love a move to the Premier League, so a deal there is likely.
