Chelsea left back, Abdul Baba Rahman has recently been talking to German magazine Sport Bild about his time at Stamford bridge, the young full back has expressed his frustrating about his lack of game time, and has stated that he no longer want’s to be sitting in the stands.
Baba joined from German side Augsburg, and cost in the region of £21 million.  The Ghanaian had an impressive season last year in the Bundesliga, being the best player in his position stat wise. The 21 year old has struggled to cement a place in the starting XI with both Ivanovic and Azpilicueta being higher in the pecking order. This has frustrated the 21 year old with the youngster wanting more game time.
Of course it’s frustrating for any footballer to sit in the stands and I don’t want to experience that too much.
It is clear to see that Rahman was not a Mourinho signing with the former Chelsea manager preferring to stick with his tried & trusted Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta. Baba is a very talented attacking full back, but his defensive ability has come under scrutiny after constantly seeing the back of Xherdan Shaqiri in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Stoke City November.
As a young player, of course, you have to get used to such a big club and a world-class league. For me the first half of the season was pretty OK but in the second half I really want to play more. Chelsea are one of the best clubs in the world.
Since Mourinho’s sacking, Guus Hiddink has taken over as interim manager for the second time but is Baba Rahman enjoying his time under the Dutch manager? This is what he’s had to say:
He always gave me tips on how to improve both defensively and going forward. I liked him right from the first moment. Every player would benefit from working with him.
