Benched striker poised to join Crystal Palace

Loic Remy started Chelsea’s game against Arsenal on the bench yet again, with the French international now linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

The ex-Newcastle United striker came on to replace Diego Costa who seemed to be struggling with an injury, and had a couple of chances himself to settle the game for the Blues when Arsenal were pushing for an equaliser.

Yet again, Remy failed to impress once being called upon from the bench in his last few appearances now, with a loan move probably the best option for best parties.

Numerous Premier League sides have been linked with a temporary switch for the striker, with Sky Bet naming Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace the favourites to grab the 29-year-old from Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, with January’s transfer window’s deadline getting close.

If a move to Crystal Palace doesn’t go ahead, former club Newcastle United are in as second favourites, closely followed by Russian side Spartak Moscow and Premier League strugglers Aston Villa.

This season, Remy has only started two games for the Blues and the 22-minute run out he received was only his second appearance since the turn of the New Year.
