Guus Hiddink will give Belgian midfielder Charly Musonda, the chance to train with the first team, in hopes of making a push for his first competitive appearance for the Premier League Champions after Musonda put in an extraordinary performance against QPR U21’s in a behind closed door friendly.
The 19 year old was among many first team players in the side, with Abdul Baba Rahman, Patrick Bamford, Christian Atsu and Bertrand Traore all putting in solid performances. Musonda scored the first goal of the game with a sublime free kick, that dazzled the eyes of Guus Hiddink and Roman Abramovich who wanted to look at several youth players, before making the judgement of whether they should be sent out on loan to gain some first team experience for the rest of the season.
Musonda will be in consideration for the match day squad, in an important match against league leaders, Arsenal, at the Emirates on Sunday. When Hiddink returned to the club, for his second stint as interim manager, he was well aware of the reputation of the talented Charly Musonda.
The Duthman wanted to watch the Belgian train over the Christmas period, but the youngster was already on the plane to Los Angeles for an authorised winter break with some of his team mates.
The club want to loan out Charly Musonda Jr but Guus Hiddink wants to watch him in closer quarters first.
