Chelsea edge close to appointing permanent manager

According to emerging reports this morning, Chelsea have gone one step closer in the bid to bring Diego Simeone from Atletico Madrid to Stamford Bridge in the summer, as the Spanish side have been rocked by a transfer ban for the next two windows.

It’s fair to say that Simeone is high up in Roman Abramovich’s wish-list for the next permanent manager at Stamford Bridge, following the sacking of fans favourite Jose Mourinho.

Once the Portuguese boss had been given his marching orders, Guus Hiddink stepped in, again, and became the interim boss at the Bridge, for the second time in his career.

Pep Guardiola, who’s been linked with the job in West London, following his statement that he’ll be leaving Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the summer, and is interested in coming over to the Premier League. The former Barcelona boss has been widely-linked with the Manchester City job.

The report goes on to suggest that. now Atletico can’t make transfers for the next two windows, that Simeone is more likely to vacate his position in Spain, and head to the Bridge.
