Chelsea interested in Premier League defender

According to a report in the Mirror, Chelsea are interested in capturing the services of Scott Dann, who currently plays his football at fellow Premier League side, Crystal Palace.

The report goes on to add that the Blues could potentially make a move for the ex-Blackburn Rovers defender to come in once John Terry’s time at his beloved club is up.

Steve Stammers, the reporter who has brought the rumour, indicated that the West London club could provide Dann with a little bit more money, by offering to double his current £60,00-a-week wage. However, the central defender has created a very positive relationship with Eagles boss Alan Pardew, and would be reluctant to leave Selhurst Park.

Adding to that, the 27-year-old is a regular starter for the former Newcastle United boss, being one of the first names on the matchday team-sheet. At Chelsea, Dann would have to battle it out with Kurt Zouma and Gary Cahill to cement a first-team spot at Stamford Bridge, and it’d be unlikely.

Dann has only recently signed a contract extension for the next five years, so a transfer fee for the Crystal Palace man would be large.
