Former Chelsea boss ruled out potential return

According to Sports Mail, Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti was offered a chance to replace Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, five weeks before they sacked the Portuguese manager. It was claimed that Ancelotti, who has left Real Madrid at the end of last season, was Chelsea’s first choice and that he was approached in November, before Roman Abromovich decided to sack Jose Mourinho.

It has been revealed that the owner, Roman Abromvich, has told friends that sacking Ancelotti was one of the biggest mistakes that he has done and that he regrets it immensely. Therefore, the owner set a meeting with Ancelotti in hopes that he would take charge of Stamford Bridge before approaching Hiddink.

However, Carlo Ancelotti has turned down a return to Chelsea. Instead, opting to sign a three-year-contract at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, with their current boss Pep Guardiola setting his sights on a job in the Premier League.
