Hazard and Costa fit for Arsenal clash

In his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s big game with London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink gave an update on the injury front, as well as assessing our recent form and looking at our defensive capabilities.

To start things off, Hiddink, who is in his second stint as interim boss at Stamford Bridge gave an update on the injuries to Diego Costa, but started off with news about Eden Hazard’s fitness. The Belgian has been unavailable for the Blues since he limped off only after 15 minutes into the game at Selhurst Park, in the 0-3 win over Crystal Palace.

He was well prepared by the physios until two days ago when he started participating in training.

Today and yesterday he was in full commitment with first team training so he is available. I am not sure whether he can play a full 90 minutes yet so we have to consider in the upcoming hours whether he will start or come on. We will decide on game day.

Following his bruised shin at the weekend against Everton, Hiddink then gave an update on the fitness of Diego Costa. The manager was asked as to whether or not the Spanish international had trained at all this week ahead of the game on Sunday.

Not much, but he was in yesterday and in today and he will be available as well.
