John Swift extends loan, Bamford + Atsu return

John Swift will be extending his loan with the Championship club Brentford until the end of the season.

John Swift age 20, has made 14 appearances for Brentford scoring three times during the current campaign, having initially joined on a one-month deal. Swift made his Chelsea first-team debut in the final game of the 2013/14 season, and has recently been called up to the England Under-21 squad.

Two previously loaned players have returned from their loan spells at their respective clubs Patrick Bamford (Crystal Palace) and Christian Atsu (AFC Bournemouth).

Patrick Bamford decided to leave Crystal Palace and return to his parent club as he felt that he was not getting enough game time which was the point of him going on loan, but now with the return of Guus Hiddink could there be a return to regular game time for Bamford in Chelsea’s first team.

Christian Atsu has also returned from loan from AFC Bournemouth who also got his loan contract terminated early as he struggled to break into the starting XI  for Bournemouth before sustaining another setback of a stress fracture on his back in October and also returned on the same terms as Bamford on the concern of the lack of playing time could this also mean that Atsu may be given a place in Chelsea’s first team.

Ulises Davila has also this week joined the Mexican side Santos Laguna in a permanent deal.
