Round-up: Who’s being linked with a move to Chelsea?

Well, here we are again. It’s the January transfer window and numerous amount of players are again being linked with a move to the current Premier League champions, despite the horrific season the Blues are currently having.

In today’s rumours, Guus Hiddink’s side have been linked with a whole host of different players which, given our current form, is probably needed. However, how many deals is possible in just a month? Anyway, to the names.

The first name on the list comes from the Premier League, and Southampton to be more precise. Sadio Mane, who seems to be on his way out of St Mary’s has been linked with a move to West London, despite reported heavy interested from Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United. The Senegal international has impressed many during his time with the Saints, scoring 13 goals in 44 appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side. It’s also being reported that the 23-year-old is unsettled and is looking for a move. Mane was dropped to the bench for Southampton’s latest game for disciplinary reasons, according to Koeman.

The second move being rumoured is that from La Liga giants Real Madrid. Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale is being linked with a move away from the Bernabeu as life in Madrid hasn’t been what it panned out to be for the Welshman, off the pitch more than on. The managerial situation at Los Blancos has added more uncertainty into the mix but, like with Mane, Manchester United are showing signs of being heavily interested in the former Southampton star, and who could blame them?

The third on the list is Shakhtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira. The latest news we have is that the deal for the Brazilian is on the verge of being completed and confirmation could soon be on its way. Chelsea are in advanced talks with Shakhtar over a deal that could potentially cost the Blues around £30m, should the deal go through. Teixeira has bagged himself 22 goals in only 15 appearances, and could provide Hiddink with another goal scorer which is something that has been struggling because of Costa’s lack of form.

To round off, Patrick Bamford has returned to Chelsea following his lack of playing time at Selhurst Park, where he spent the first half of the season on loan with Crystal Palace. It’s still to be seen as to whether or not he’ll stay with Hiddink’s side, or if he’ll get loaned out again. If I was a betting man, I’d say that you can expect to see the English striker back in the Middlesbrough colours until the end of the season – at least.

As reported earlier, John Stones is yet again a target for the Blues, with Roman Abramovich and co adamant that they can lure the young English defender away from Merseyside, and into life in West London.
