Soon we will have to say goodbye to another Chelsea legend

31st January 2016, a day I will never forget. The day I found out the a man that I grew up watching, and idolised over the years, will not be extending his contract and will leave at the end of the season. I and the whole Chelsea fan base are mortified by this decision and will not forgive the club for a very long time. Losing John terry is like losing the final part of something that a deceased relative gave to you, it may become damaged and useless over the years but it still means a lot to you.

What has our beloved club become? Does the status of fan favourite or Legend mean nothing any more. Yes we can praise our board for the amount we get for players like David Luiz and Romelu Lukaku but Michael Emenalo needs to get out of our club; he has become a cancer in our beautiful club. The man is hated by pretty much everyone. Abramovich hasn’t made many mistakes during his time at the club, but rejecting Emenalo resignation was his biggest.

I will no longer address our sporting director as Michael Emenalo he is nothing more than a speck of dust under the sofa to me. He has brought our club down to its knee’s with incredibly woeful signings in recent years. We are the Premier league champions; how do we react to retain this prestigious trophy? By signing an out of form Radamal Falcao, an unknown defender in Papy Mison Djilobodji and selling the best goalkeeper in the Premier league to a title rival.

John Terry has won everything at the club, including the most prestigious prize of them all,the Champions league, but the club are willing to throw him out on his ass just because of his age. Age is just a number my friend, and the sooner you realize that, the better. The annoying thing is, Terry and Zouma have created an insane partnership at the back but we are willing to throw that away instead of seeing how it goes next year. We have many young players at the club, who will they learn from? Christensen will potentially return in the summer and look at a side with no leaders. Maybe he can look at Cahill and Ivanovic but he won’t learn as much as he would off JT.

Life is nothing like a child’s story book, people see the positives in life, dreaming that one day there will be a fairy tale ending, but at Chelsea football club; that is not the case. JT wanting to retiring at the club that gave him so much over the years. He is our last academy graduate to successful sustain a place in the side, and for all we know, may be the last.

Terry’s career accomplishments:

  • UEFA Champions League (1) 2011-12
  • UEFA Europa League (1) 2012-12
  • UEFA Club Defender of the year (3) 2005, 2008, 2009
  • UEFA Team of the year (4) 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009

It’s clear to see that the fans have no verdict on things, even Guus Hiddink doesn’t have any voice on things, because the Dutchman wanted JT to stay, but as he is only the interim manager, his words were invalid to the Chelsea hierarchy. It is the end of an era, an era that brought us so much over the years. I feel privileged enough to say that I grew up watching the likes of John Terry, Petr Cech, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole & Didier Drogba.
