Hiddink vows to use more youngsters should Chelsea’s season crumble

Chelsea are about to embark on an extremely difficult week where they will play the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against PSG tonight and then face Manchester City for the FA Cup on Sunday.

If Chelsea can pull through, that would be a great indication that Chelsea can overcome a very turbulent season. However, if the blues end up losing both ties that could leave the club without any trophies or European qualification next year.

This is a key week as to whether we go in a nice flow into the next round of the FA Cup, go further in the Champions League or the other scenario is there.

Speaking during his conference, Hiddink hinted that he has a plan should things go wrong and has vowed to use more of Chelsea’s youngsters to finish off the season. He has already given chances to Ruben Loftus-Cheek & Bertrand Traore since taking over as a manager and defender Jake Clarke-Salter has been promoted to the first team with Terry & Zouma both injured.

We need to see what the near future can bring with some big experiments & see what can be done with younger players who are knocking on the door. I am happy youngsters are now coming up at this club. I was happy with Traore who worked so hard in training, so he deserved to come in, so I was happy he made his goal. It’s a signal now that young players have the opportunity to make an impact.

Other players who also being considered over the final games of the season should Chelsea drop out of both Champions League & the FA Cup are Kenedy, Matt Miazga & Ola Aina.
