Lampard wants to bring Terry to MLS if Chelsea let him go

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has insisted that John Terry deserves to be given a new contract and is urging the Blues should offer his former teammate a new deal.

However, Lampard has stated that he will try to convince Terry to move to the United States if he happens to leave the club, reports the Goal.com.

Frank Lampard has joked that he will pay for the plane ticket to move John Terry to MLS if Chelsea fails to offer the defender an extension to keep the veteran at the club over another season.

He is the best defender I have ever played with, quite comfortably. So if Chelsea let him go and John’s sitting there, I’ll get his plane ticket and get him over here.

I would like to see them offer it [a new contract]. I think it’s obvious John wants it and I think he can still stay at Chelsea.

The New York City FC midfielder doesn’t think that the former England captain would’ve lost a touch in his game despite the advancing years on his career, and still considers him as Chelsea’s best defender.

Of course I’m friends with John, but purely from a football perspective and from what he’s done on the pitch, and as a starting player in all their big and important games when he’s started them this season, I think he’s been their best defender this year.

If Terry ends up leaving Stamford Bridge, MLS is not the only rumoured destination for the skipper, as also former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho might offer a contract for Terry if the Portugese takes over at Old Trafford.
