A statistical look at Chelsea’s season

It’s not been the season many had anticipated following a convincing title win in 2014/15, with the departure of Jose Mourinho overshadowing the 2015/16 season so fra. Guus Hiddink has taken the reign on a temporary basis however and has steadied the ship but here’s a look at the Premier League season so far through stats.

Most appearances?

There are four players with the most appearances in the league this season: Cesc Fabregas, Cesar Azpilicueta, Nemanja Matic and standout performer Willian are all tied on 28 league appearances so far this campaign closely followed by Eden Hazard (26), Branislav Ivanovic (25)  and Diego Costa (24).

Most Goals?

Unsurprisingly Chelsea’s top goalscorer is the lethal striker Diego Costa with 11 goals in the league so far with Willian and summer signing Pedro well behind on 4.

Oscar sits just a goal behind them with 3. There are a handful of players currently on on 2 goals, most notably defender Cesar Azpilicueta and young forward Bertrand Traore as well as playmaker Cesc Fabregas.

Best Performer?

Our best performer this season according to Squawka’s performance score is Willian with a score of 686 which is miles ahead of second place Cesc Fabregas(490).

Surprisingly, the unconvincing Eden Hazard is our third best performer this season with a score of 479.

Worst Performer?

Also using Squawka’s performance score our worst performer is Baba Rahman with a score of -53. He is the only player at the club on a minus score – ahead of him is recently departed Brazilian midfielder Ramires.

Most Chances Created?

Once again Willian leads the way in his fantastic season so far with 71 chances created for his team mates so far.

The uninspired Eden Hazard surprisingly is in second place with 56 chances created and playmaker Cesc Fabregas is third on 43 chances created for his team mates in the Premier League.

What do these stats show?

These stats show that Willian has been our outstanding performer so far this season in the Premier League but this also shows that Eden Hazard has been playing better than its been said in the media. Despite not yet scoring a goal in the league, he is creating chances for his Chelsea team mates.

They also suggest that Cesc Fabregas has been another consistent performer. However, one of our most consistent performers this season has been right-back Cesar Azpilicueta, scoring 2 goals and remaining solid defensively.
