Matuidi and Verratti doubts for 2nd leg Clash

Paris Saint Germain midfield duo Blasie Matuidi and Marco Verratti face a race against time to be fit for a vital Champions League Round of 16 match at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.

Both players are out of Paris’s game at Montpellier today (Saturday). Blasie Matuidi has a muscular problem while Marco Verratti is suffering with a bone based problem, Laurent Blanc has described Verratti’s injury as “problematic” amid fears he could miss the crucial Champions League game in midweek.

Matuidi has a 92% pass accuracy in the French top flight of Ligue 1, so will make him a huge miss for the Parisian outfit should he miss the big game on Wednesday. However Verratti has been missing for large parts of the season and the French side has adapted to playing without him.

With Chelsea needing to overturn a 2-1 deficit without Paris having two of their key players missing especially when Chelsea have a on form playmaker in Spanish international Cesc Fabregas could be key in deciding the outcome of the huge Champions League return leg on Wednesday.
