Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has backed the former Blues boss José Mourinho to success in his new era at rivals Manchester United, Goal reports.
The Portuguese is believed to have finalized terms with the Red Devils, and will become the Dutchman Louis Van Gaal’s successor at Old Trafford ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
Despite Mourinho’s second Chelsea spell coming to a horrendous end last December, Courtois believes in the manager’s ability to make himself and United look great again.
He’s a very good manager. Obviously this season it was not our year but I’m confident he’s a top manager and Manchester United will be difficult to beat next year.
The 24-year-old Belgian has also shown faith into his side to bounce back from a shocking 10th place finish last season.
When a big team has a season like that, everybody learns from it.
Not only the players and manager but the directors, fans, everybody. We will be back stronger next year.
Courtois was Mourinho’s number one goalkeeper during the manager’s time in Chelsea, but he’s reportedly more keen on star midfielders Willian and Nemanja Matic, who could join the ex-Real Madrid manager at Manchester United this summer.
