John Terry “farewell” tribute cancelled

Chelsea’s officials have reportedly contacted coordinators of the end of season awards taking place on Friday night to cancel a planned section in proceedings paying tribute to John Terry.

This has now sparked rumours of a U-turn in the decision of Chelsea not to give him a contract extension, to give him a new 12-month deal. Which he before believed that there was going to be no chance of a change of mind from the clubs hierarchy.

It is also understood that Antonio Conte wants to keep John Terry in the team as a major asset bringing experience and knowledge to the team.

Terry was being pursued by teams in China and the Middle East as well as the Danish team Midtjylland and has understood he is no longer a expected team starter and is willing to take a pay cut.

In Guus Hiddink’s interview he had hinted to John Terry staying at the club and how much of an asset he believes he is at the club after a meeting with Roman Abramovich’s assistants Michael Emenalo and Marina Granovskaia, which has increased peoples hope of the Captain remaining another 12 months at the club.
