According to the Times Chelsea skipper is set to meet Roman Abramovich’s closest advisers – Michael Emenalo and Marina Granovskaia – to decide on a way or another whether the 35-year-old will stay at Stamford Bridge over the end of the season.
The former England international’s current spell at the club is set to expire this summer, and the board have been unwilling to promise the defender a new contract with the West London outfit.
However, Terry is now scheduled to meet Abramovich’s left and right hand this week to discuss a potential contract extension for the player, as he’s keen to keep playing for the Blues for two more seasons before moving away or retiring.
The former England captain was expected to make his last appearance for the club against Leicester City on the last game of the season, but is set to miss the final two matches of the campaign following his red card against Sunderland last weekend.
It means the skipper is not going to get a ceremonial send-off at Stamford Bridge and there’s big shouts from Chelsea fans to hand him a new contract.
The incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been told to have a big influence on Terry future, but after the current Azzurri coach held talks with the player on two different occasions, the center-half was unable to convince the Italian that he’d deserves a new deal.
