Chelsea are closing on the singing of FC Porto winger Yacine Brahimi, the Portuguese website O Jogo reports.
The Blues are facing a tough bid race to sign the highly-rated Algerian as the player has attracted interest from several clubs including Wolfsburg, AC Milan and Premier league rivals Liverpool.
According to the website the transfer is on its latter stages, and the English side is hoping to complete the deal in the coming days.
Porto reportedly want £30million for the player, but due to their poor financial position and struggles with the Financial Fair Play rules, a transfer fee of £15m is more likely to be registered.
Chelsea’s interest on Brahimi took a huge step upwards following the 26-year-old’s fine performances against the West London side in last season’s Champions League group stage matches.
Brahimi won the man of the match award when the teams met in Portugal, being one of the team’s best players in the game at Stamford Bridge as well.
Naturally a left winger, Brahimi scored nine goals in a total of 44 appearances last season, which was a surprisingly disappointing campaign for the usually impressive Porto side, finishing third in the league behind rivals Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.
