Marseille accept Chelsea’s €40m bid for Michy Batshuayi

Chelsea have reportedly had their €40 million bid for striker Michy Batshuayi accepted by Olympique de Marseille, according to French media outlet L’Equipe.

The Belgium international has been linked with a move to several clubs in Premier League, with Chelsea’s rivals Arsenal and Tottenham both monitoring the player.

It was only Monday evening when Crystal Palace had their €38m bid for Batshuayi accepted, but the 22-year-old decided to snub the contract talks with The Eagles after Chelsea had their offer seen through.

The Blues’ big money transfer fee is more than what they paid for Chelsea legend Didier Drogba back in the day when he was signed from the very same French club.

Currently representing his country in the Euro 2016, Batshuayi told for Sky Sports his admiration for the Premier League, but insisted a full focus on the competition with Belgium.

I don’t think about that, I prefer to concentrate 100 per cent on the Euros, then we will see what happens.

Everybody likes the Premier League. It has a lot of spectacle, a lot of goals and many good players.

Batshuayi has enlarged his name by scoring regularly for the Ligue 1 side, netting 17 goals in 36 appearances for his name last campaign.
