Antonio Conte: ‘I’m learning from the best’

In a recent interview with Chelsea TV, Antonio Conte has described how his previous experiences as a player have helped him gain fundamental knowledge and tactics which he can use at Chelsea today.

One of those who he gained knowledge from was former blue Carlo Ancelotti who enjoyed success at Chelsea winning The Premier League and FA Cup double. If Conte was to endure similar success with Chelsea the fans would certainly be happy especially with their being a strong argument that we haven’t played football as attractively since then.

I had fantastic managers in my career. Marcello Lippi, Arrigo Sacchi, Carlo Ancelotti, Giovanni Trapatoni. Every one of them gave me something.

It’s very important. The tactical ideas are mine, I developed these. I maintain a lot of teachings of these fantastic managers. I bring with me a part of them.

Conte also believes he has the capabilities in order to improve our players and get them back to the levels the fans expect by challenging for the league title.

One thing Chelsea lacked last season was certainly team spirit and passion to fight and grind out results, however our new manager also seems the correct man to instil that back into the squad.

Three at the back, four at the back – it’s not important. What is important is the right spirit in the team. Good organisation and good training on tactical and physical aspects. I think I can improve my players a lot.
