Chelsea move swiftly to begin negotiations over N’Golo Kante transfer

Chelsea might be leading the race to sign Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante this summer, but the club are in danger of letting the deal slip through their hands as Shanghai SPIG have already set a big-money move for him.

The West London club have been quick to start transfer talks for Kante with less than 24 hours from France’s last match, a defeat against Portugal in the Euro 2016 final, as Antonio Conte looks to shape up his team for the upcoming season, The Telegraph reports.

N’Golo Kante’s quality performances last season earned him a place in France’s national team for Euro 2016.

Kante has a release-clause of £25m on his contract with the reign Premier League champions, but The Blues are aware of their slim chances of being able to conclude a deal for the Frenchman with a price that low.

The bidding war for the 25-year-old has got even more intense after the player rejected a contract extension with Leicester, and the club are now ready to sell him for the highest bidder.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus have all shown major interest on Kante, but Chelsea have emerged as favourites for his signature, as they were reportedly the first team to attract interest.

Chinese Super League side Shanghai SPIG could be a tough competitor for The Blues as they have the money to outbid Chelsea, but Kante on the other hand has his heart set to Stamford Bridge.
