According to The Telegraph, N’Golo Kante is braced to turn down a contract extension with Leicester City, and wants a move to Chelsea in favour of playing under Antonio Conte.
The France international had a tremendous season for the Premier League champions last campaign, and has attracted interest from multiple clubs this summer.
Despite Leicester’s efforts on keeping one of their star players at the club, Kante is keen to join a bigger club this summer, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus and Chelsea all seeming potential destinations for the midfielder.
However, Chelsea are now emerged as favourites, as the 25-year-old is reportedly keen to work under Conte, after turning down a £100,000-a-week deal with Leicester.
Kante has a £20m release clause on his contract with Leicester, and it’s likely that the club will settle with accepting the highest bid made over that limit.
Therefore Chelsea will want to avoid making a bid which results in them paying well over the release fee.
