Koulibaly ready to leave Napoli, Chelsea are still interested

According to reports, Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent held talks with the Napoli president last Saturday, expressing the defender’s desire to leave the Serie A club.

Koulibaly’s future has been hotly disputed over the last few weeks, with both Chelsea and Everton reportedly interested in the defender. The story has seemingly gone from one extreme to the other, with the 25-year-old seeming close to a move to the Premier League before Napoli told the media he would not be sold.

The Italian side, who have allegedly accepted a £79m bid from Juventus for Gonzalo Higuain, now look set to lose another star after reports suggest Koulibaly’s agent “summed up the situation after a few tense weeks” in a meeting with the club’s president.

That I know of, he’s not about to renew and the future doesn’t look rosy. The player’s desire is to leave and the signs we’re receiving from Napoli don’t exactly pressure him otherwise. Chelsea still want him and there’s time to close.

It’s been suggested for a while now that the Blues are keen on the Senegalese international, who joined Napoli for £8m in 2014.

With Antonio Conte reportedly looking to add one more defender to the squad, it may only be a matter of time before the 25-year-old makes the switch to West London.
