Atletico end Costa pursuit

It has been the centre of summer speculation surrounding Chelsea Football Club but reports have come out today that Atletico Madrid have dropped their interest in Chelsea striker, Diego Costa.

There had been previous rumours that the Spaniard was unhappy at Stamford Bridge and speculation was fuelled when the Striker removed his association with Chelsea from his social media bio’s and change his profile picture on Instagram to a football.

Diego Costa returned to the starting XI as Chelsea comfortably beat AC Milan in the early hours of Thursday morning (GMT) after missing the defeat to Real Madrid due to an injury sustained in training.  Prior to the game, Antonio Conte reiterated the commitment of Diego Costa and stated that the 29-year-old is happy at Chelsea.

Diego Costa is a Chelsea player and very happy to stay with us

Atletico Madrid’s president Enrique Cerezo echoed Antonio Conte’s comments in an interview with Marca.

Costa [talks] do not have a long tail or anything of the sort. Diego has a contract with Chelsea and he belongs to Antonio Conte’s team. […]

Chelsea are our friend, just as the great Atletico man Diego Costa is our friend. But his place is with Chelsea and we are sure that he will be successful there. We cherish Diego for what he has given us and he knows where his home.
