Despite having a bid rejected earlier this week, Chelsea are set to go back in for AC Milan defender, Alessio Romagnoli, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
We previously covered the story that Chelsea had a bid simultaneously rejected by the Rossoneri, but the Blues are looking to test the 5 time European champions’ resolve of keeping the 21-year-old.
The newspaper are also claiming that Chelsea have a budget of €100m [£86m] available to provide Antonio Conte with a defender, and midfielder.
Having spent the whole summer chasing Kalidou Koulibaly, Antonio Conte is determined to sign a new central defender from Serie A, which has lead to the focus being switched to Romagnoli.
From several midfielder targets, the unsettled Real Madrid star James Rodriguez has stood up from the shortlist, as the Blues are reportedly readying a last-minute bid for the Colombian, since the transfer market closes inside the next nine days.
